Dr. Ritter has been on staff here at Bellhaven Center for many years. In addition to the professional credentials presented below, Dr. Ritter is able to examine and treat both long and short-term residents requiring orthopedic treatment and follow-up here at Bellhaven, eliminating most of the off-site follow-ups at hospitals or doctor’s offices that are time-consuming, inconvenient and often uncomfortable for our residents to endure, post-injury or post-surgery.

Dr. Richard Ritter is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of knee and shoulder problems, sports injuries, ligament and tendon disorders, fractures, and arthritic conditions.

Dr. Ritter has expertise in minimally invasive procedures, including knee and shoulder arthroscopy and ACL reconstruction. He was among the first on Long Island to perform arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and maintains a special interest in shoulder disorders.

He treats all types of extremity fractures and is highly trained in all aspects of orthopedics, including carpal tunnel syndrome, foot and ankle problems, and total joint replacements. He is currently an at-large member of the medical board and vice president of the medical staff of Long Island Community Hospital.
